Course Details :
  • The syllabus of AMIE is similar to B.E/B.Tech course.
  • The AMIE syllabus is made up of two parts:- Section A and Section B.
  • Those who join for AMIE should first study and clear all subjects in Section A. Based on one's qualification, the total number of subjects in Section A varies.
  • After passing Section A, he will be eligible to study for Section B. The total number of subjects in Section B is 9.

Age Limit :

Minimum Age: 17 Years and Maximum Age: No maximum age restriction.

Educational Qualification:
  • A recognized 3-year Polytechnic Diploma or its equivalent in any branch of engineering. (No marks restriction). Or,
  • Plus Two/HSC/PDC with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics with minimum 45% marks.(Please note that the aggregate marks must also be 45% and above.) Any educational qualifications equivalent to the above, are also eligible to apply for AMIE.

Please Note:
Those who pursue AMIE after their Diploma course are usually known as Diploma Stream Students (Senior Technician Members), and others are known as Non-Diploma Stream Students (Technician Members).

Highlights of the Course :
  • The AMIE is a B.Tech level examination in engineering which is recognized by all State Governments, Central Govt., AICTE, UPSC as an equivalent to a regular B.E/B.Tech degree.
  • Candidates who pass the AMIE examination will get equal opportunities for jobs as well as higher education opportunities in both Govt. and private sectors, just like any other B.E or B.Tech degree holder.
  • The Institution of Engineers (India), the largest multidisciplinary body of engineers in the country is the authority that prepares the syllabus, conducts examination and issues the degree certificates of AMIE.
  • This is a recognized engineering degree course that can be pursued through distance education scheme.
  • Class room attendance is not required and any candidate meeting the specified eligibility criteria can become a graduate engineer in the least possible time.
  • We arrange the AMIE Postal Class and as a result this course is suitable for employed candidates.

Highlights of the Course :
  • This is suited for those students who have failed to complete their engineering/ B.Tech degrees from any university and wish to continue their studies. They may do so with the NEFTU under the Credit Transfer/ Lateral entry system.
  • NEFTU follows a transparent mechanism for its admission procedure.
  • The NEFTU administers its own entrance test/personal interview and also considers the scores of national and state level entrance examination for the selection.
Please Note:
  • Lateral entry shall be allowed only in the programmes where the same is specifically mentioned.
  • Students who are pursuing programmes from other universities can pursue their remaining part of the programme under the credit transfer scheme of the university.
  • Students have to pay lateral/credit transfer fee.
Procedure for admission:
  • Students can download the admission form from the university website of NEFTU at: or they can collect the admission form directly from the admissions department of the university by remitting the prescribed fees. For all the courses the same admission form is applicable.
  • Submit the duly filled application form to the admission department of the university with following documents along with the course fee.
  • Copy of all mark sheets and certificates.
  • Id & address proof.
